Doable Technology - Water Related Problems
- Although in valley land off-season vegetables are cultivated in some pockets using stored water in some earthen or pucca ponds at hilltop, the land is left fallow almost for 6-7 months during post-rainy season due to severe water scarcity as most of the rainwater goes waste by runoff through terraced land.
- Farmers remain idle during this lean period.
- Even for drinking water during off-season, they have to come all the way from the hilltop to plain land to collect only 3-5 buckets of water per family. Therefore, construction of cost effective micro-rainwater harvesting structures at hilltop is necessary to provide water during off-season.
