Doable Technology - Water Related Problems

Although in valley land off-season vegetables are cultivated in some pockets using stored water in some earthen or pucca ponds at hilltop, the land is left fallow almost for 6-7 months during post-rainy season due to severe water scarcity as most of the rainwater goes waste by runoff through terraced land.
Farmers remain idle during this lean period.
Even for drinking water during off-season, they have to come all the way from the hilltop to plain land to collect only 3-5 buckets of water per family. Therefore, construction of cost effective micro-rainwater harvesting structures at hilltop is necessary to provide water during off-season.
