Natural Resource Management - Plant Physiology
- Quantification of the thermal and dark period requirements of more than 200 popular and released HYVs of rice was estimated.
- The rice under aerobic condition in general had marginally lower leaf relative water content (RWC) values than the control set (flooded) and as a result the aerobic had lower LAI & plant height than the respective control set in all the varieties with very few exceptions.
- Regarding yield and yield components, aerobic set had marginally lower values than in control for most of the yield components. Grain yield difference between aerobic and control set (flooded) was to the tune of 930 kg/ha. Among the varieties, Hybrid 6444 (3598 kg/ha and 2772 kg/ha) followed by DRRH 1 (3357 kg/ha and 2533 kg/ha) were found superior to KRH 2, Shahsarang 1 and Jaya in controlled and aerobic conditions, respectively. Local Check variety Shahsarang 1 although produced lower yield than hybrids, the yield difference between control and aerobic set was only 420 kg/ha.
