New wave of vegetables production of winter crops

A new wave of large scale vegetables cultivation of winter crops by the farmers’ of Regi, Pagi and Disi village has brought new hopes of higher farm income through the intervention implemented by the team of experts from ICAR, KVK-West Siang, Basar. All winter vegetable seeds of cabbage, cauliflower, knol-khol, broccoli, tomato, coriander, palak, turnip, True Potato Seeds, radish, mustard and pea has been distributed in 7 different villages namely Gori-1,2,3, Soi and Regi, Pagi & Disi within Basar area. Vegetable gives more quick & higher return than any other component in agriculture sector & farmers of these villages proved that all crops comes up nicely in all the fields. During the diagnostic field visit, the team of Subject Matter Specialists (SMSs) headed by Dr. M.S. Baruah (i/c, PC) of KVK, Basar advised suitably to manage the diseases & insect-pests sporadically appeared on mustard (Aphid infestation), bacterial wilt, early blight mosaic virus in potato & management recommendations were given to farmers of those field after monitoring.

The team visited & inspected the functioning of customized hiring centre (CHC) of NICRA-TDC project at Regi. Simultaneously a scientific group discussion also held at CHC by the team (Mr. K. Suraj Singh, SMS (PP), Mr. Debashis Datta, SMS (Agril. Extn.) & Mrs. Deepa Lal-SMS (Horti.) of experts for controlling of insect-pest & diseses. The team also selected fields & sites for setting up of low cost Poly houses and jalkund for year round production of trouble free vegetable production and  all helps are rendered free of cost to these villages of above mentioned seven villages.
