Training and seed distribution of Rabi crops held at ICAR under “Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav”
A training cum awareness programme and seed distribution of Rabi crops was organized under the visionary programme of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India “Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav” at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region today. A total number of Twenty Two (22) farmers from five villages of Mangnar, Nongpoh attended the training programme. The idealistic programme was launched in the month of May by the government of India and since its inception ICAR has taken active part to make the visionary programme a success in the process 60 villages has been adopted.
Speaking on the occasion the Director of the institute Dr. S. V. Ngachan said that “Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav” is a scheme to increase the capacity of a village, the village has to work as a team to get maximum benefit from the scheme. The motive of the programme is to connect the farmers with the scientist. The Director urged the farmers to share their problems with the scientist so that with the implementation of scientific methods they can increase their livelihood. The scientist and the farming community will work in union to make the programme a success.
To motivate the farmers’ to grow Rabi crops after rice and not leave their land fallow, seeds of various Rabi crops like capsicum, pea, lentil etc were distributed to all the farmers. The programme ended with a field visit to the ICAR farms were practical demonstrations and hands on training was given to the trainees.
