World Water Day Celebration 22nd March 2021 at KVK-Ri Bhoi

“Theme : “Valuing water”

         A programme was organized by KVK-Ri-Bhoi ICAR, Umaim, Meghalaya on on “World Water Day cum Training on Water Use Efficiency and Appropriate Crops” on 22nd of March 2021 on the theme “Valuing Water” to mark the importance water for life and to raise awareness about global water crisis and to support “Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 : water and sanitation for all by 2030”. About 50 numbers of farmers along with 8 numbers of office staffs and 7 numbers of other staffs were attended the programme. The programme started with the welcome address delivered by Dr. B.U. Choudhury, Principal Scientist and Nodal Officer KVKs-ICAR, Umiam who highlighted the achievement of micro irrigation structure “Jalkund”. A detail presentation on valuing water and roadmap for future research by Dr. V. K. Mishra,  Director, ICAR, Umiam; who also emphasized on importance of Under Ground Transfer of Floods for Irrigation (UTFI), water conservation system, promotion of micro irrigation system through rain water harvesting system and to use water judiciously to promote the Motto: Per crop More drop. There after followed by the speech by the Chief Guest Dr. K.K Sharma, Scientist (SG) NESAC Barapani, who emphasized on the status and management of water resource through application of GEO Spatial Tools, micro wave data, etc. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. M. Mokidul Islam, Principal Scientist & Head KVK-Ri-Bhoi.
