World Soil day and Pre Rabi Campaign Celebrated at KVK, South Tripura
World soil day and Pre Rabi Campaign was celebrated by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, South Tripura on 5th December, 2016. Dr. B.K. Kandpal, Joint Director, ICAR, Tripura Centre, Dr. K.K. Barman, Principal Scientist, Soil Science, ICAR, Tripura Centre, Dr. N. Dasgupta, Deputy Director, ARDD, Shri Diganta Das, DDM, NABARD were the dignatories present in the programme. Total  100 farmers from different villages of Gomati and South Tripura district were present in the programme. The programme started with the ICAR theme song. In the programme 50 nos. of soil health cards has been distributed to the farmers of different villages of South Tripura. Other cards were given to the respective chief coordinator of farmers’ club for distribution later. Other than soil health cards, mushroom spawn and vegetable seedlings of tomato, capsicum and chilli were distributed among the farmers of different villages of South Tripura and gomati district. Dr. B.K. Kandpal, Joint Director, ICAR, Tripura centre graced the programme as chief guest. Dr. Kandpal in his lecture encouraged farmers to use the soil health cards for application of fertilizer and manure in the respective crop for better production and maintenance of good soil health. Inaugural session of the programme was ended with National anthem. After the inaugural session, there was a separate technical session for the farmers. Classes on various topics like importance of soil analysis and uses of soil health cards, scientific mushroom cultivation, pond fish farming management during winter for profitability enhanchment were taken by ICAR , Scientist and KVK, Subject Matter Specialists. Afterwards, there was an effective farmer scientist interaction among the farmers of different villages and KVK, Subject Matter Specialists. The programme concluded with a positive note that healthy soil is required for a healthy life.
