World Food Day 2014 Celebrated at IIPR, Kanpur

Indian Institute of Pulses Research, Kanpur celebrated World Food Day 2014 in collaboration with Deen Dayal Research Institute (DRI) and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ganiwan, Chitrakoot here today.

Dr. N.P. Singh, Director, IIPR highlighted the importance of pulses in the context of nutritional security of the society. He emphasized upon more and closer interaction of pulse growers of Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh with IIPR and offered for facilitation with technological backup for pulses production and critical support of quality seeds.

Dr. Bharat Pathak, General Secretary, DRI appealed the farmers to adopt new technology in agriculture production and assured close working with IIPR.

Dr. Atar Singh, Acting Zonal Project Director, Zone IV highlighted the Government of
India’s Vision on agriculture development and farmers participation.

A Farmers-Scientists interaction workshop was also organized.

About 550 farmers including large number of women farmers from six districts of Bundelkhand region; farmers of NABARD Farmers Club and about 50 farmer representatives of Bhartiya Kisan Union participated in the programme.
