Celebration of World Environment Day 2016 by KVK, Tura
KVK, ICAR, Tura celebrated World Environment Day on 6th June, 2016 at L.P. Chunmati School, Sangsanggre, Tura with a participation of 36 students. In the programme, Dr. Tanmay Samajdar, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Tura shared about the objectives and importance for observing World Environment Day. He told the students to celebrate the World Environment Day in their schools every year to raise awareness for taking positive environmental action in order to protect nature and the planet Earth. He also stressed upon the ill effects of deforestation made by humans due to shifting cultivation, fuel and other purposes. He further added that, the current changes in climate which increases the global warming should be properly managed and take care through afforestation and other related human activities. After his speech, the staffs of KVK and the students of the school planted 27 fruit plants and 14 numbers of forest trees in the school premise.
