Vanaraja Birds Distributed To Tribal Farmers By KVK Ri-Bhoi.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Ri-Bhoi distributed 100 numbers of Vanaraja chicks under TDC component of NICRA Project to 7 numbers of selected farmers from the NICRA adopted village Kyrdem on 8th February 2017. The chicks were distributed with an objective to encourage the farmers to take up Vanaraja farming at the village level so as to enhance meat and egg production and to promote backyard poultry farming as an alternative source of income for improvement of livelihood of rural tribal farmers and farm women. Dr. Mokidul Islam, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Ri-Bhoi interacted with the farmers during the programme and explained about the benefits of Vanaraja poultry birds over the indigenous poultry in back yard poultry farming to the farmers.
