Training on Small Scale Rural Entrepreneurship Development through Livestock and Poultry production by VICAR (RC) NEH, Barapani.

 

The valedictory function of the week long residential training programme on “Integrated Scientific Livestock and Poultry production for Small Scale Rural Entrepreneurship Development in hill Ecosystem” for unemployed educated tribal youth was held on 21st February 2015.  The training programme was organized Livestock Production Division of the ICAR Research Complex for NEH region, Barapaniw. e. f 16th – 21st February 2015 under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP). A total of 28unemployed youth with education qualification of graduate and 10+2 indifferent districts of Meghalaya were participated in the training programme. During the valedictory function the chairman of the session, Dr. S.V. Ngachan, Director of the institute urges upon the importance secondary agriculture and scope of different agriculture based small rural enterprise in the north east region, which provides employment to rural educated youth. After the feedback about the training, the certificate was distributed to the successful youth by the dignitaries.  Earlier Dr.R. Laha, Head of Animal Health division welcome the dignitaries and Dr. A. K. Tripathi, Head social science Division also emphasized the importance of the rural small scale entrepreneurship in the region. Dr.G. Kadirvel, Senior Scientist and the course coordinator briefed the objectives and details of the training programme. The programme mainly covered the theory and practical demonstration on modern scientific management of pig, poultry, goat and fishery farming besides livestock based integrated farming system for effective utilization of on-farm resource. The course curriculum also covered the procedure, guidelines to obtain credit loan for Livestock and poultry from different national banks (state bank of India and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development. The training provided to upgrade the knowledge and skills of potential of educated unemployed youths of Meghalaya so that they could earn their livelihood and generate income. We also provided the training manual for educating the youths and ready references for their future. Finally Dr. S. Doley Senior Scientist proposed the vote of thanks.
