Vaccination Camp Conducted for Hill cattle and hybrids

 

DIRANG, OCT, 21: ICAR-National Research Centre on Yak (NRC on Yak), Dirang organized awareness cum vaccination camp for the hill cattle and Mithun-cattle hybrid in the Sangti village of Dirang circle in the West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. The camp mainly focused on Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) of cattle and hybrids. FMD is a viral disease that causes severe infection in cattle and hybrid leading to economic losses to the farmers.

During the programme the farmers were made aware about the FMD and told about the scientific precautions to be taken to prevent the infection. FMD is highly fatal among young calves. The farmers apprise the team of scientists from the institute regarding outbreak of the disease last year in their herd.A total of 105 cattle and Mithun –cattle hybrids were vaccinated against FMD. Villagers were highly thankful to Dr. S. M. Deb, Director, ICAR-NRC on Yak for organizing the camp and requested further support from the institute in future.

The camp was attended by Dr. Juwar Doley, Dr. Sourabh Deori, Dr. T.P. Singh, Scientists, Dr. D. Medhi, Senior Scientist, Mr. Nima Dorjee, Mr. Tsering Khandu, Mr. P.K. Nath, Mr. Sanjoy Sarkar and others.
