ICAR – KVK Churachandpur organized training cum input injection on Kharif crops

 

Training cum injection on Kharif crops was organized by the ICAR-KVK Churachandpur with a view to enhance the livelihood of the farmers at training hall KVK Churachandpur on May 18, 2018. Total of 52 nos. of progressive farmers from different villages of Churachandpur district participated in the program. Seeds of rice, maize and groundnut were distributed to the farmers. The program was conducted under the leadership of Dr. I. Meghachandra Singh, Joint Director, ICAR, Manipur Centre.

Gracing the occasion as Chief Guest Dr. Niranjan Lal, Senior Scientists & Head, ICAR – KVK Churachandpur, stressed the farmers to implement the improved production technology of Kharif crops for sustainable farming and further detailed the cropping sequence for higher profitability in the district. Addressing the gathering he urged the farmers to undertake production of quality seed to retain them for self-dependent.

Initiating the programme Dr. W. Rajen Singh, and L. Babita Devi ACTO, ICAR-KVK Churachandpur briefed about the scientific rearing of poultry and importance of integration on different animal components in the farming system which can enhance income generation for the welfare of the farming community.

Dr. S. Roma Devi, SMS (Home Science) ICAR-KVK Churachandpur addressed the gathering for establishment of kitchen garden in every house hold. She also informed the importance of value addition and its profitability under certain conditions.

Ph. Chandramani Singh, SMS (Horticulture), ICAR-KVK Churachandpur welcome the gathering and detailed the package and practices of Kharif crops based cropping system followed by next Rabi crop to increase cropping intensity.

Dr. N. J. Singh, SMS (Plant Protection), ICAR-KVK Churachandpur detailed the major insect pests and diseases of Kharif crops in and their management strategies through various approaches. He emphasized the farmers to go for preventive measures of pests’ and diseases management especially for increasing productivity.

Coordinating the programme L. Basil, Farm Manager, ICAR-KVK Churachandpur briefed production technology of Kharif vegetables which can empower the farming community and their livelihood status in the district.
