Off Campus Training Cum Method Demonstration by ICAR and KVK West Siang

A team comprised of Shri A. Kirankumar Singh, i/c Programme Coordinator, KVK West Siang, Shri Letngam Touthang, Scientist (Pl. Breeding) and Shri Badapmain Makdoh, Scientist (Agronomy), ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, A. P. Centre, Basar conducted an off farm training programme with diagnostic visit to farmers’ field at Regi Village and method demonstration on sowing of Toria (TS-38). During the training programme, Shri A. Kirankumar Singh suggested the farmers to go for commercial farming in diversified  way  in  order  to  cater  more  income  and  the  importance  of  intercropping  for  soil  fertility management, Shri Letngam Touthang stressed the importance of conserving indigenous germplasms and the use of improved varieties of different crops whereas Shri Badapmain Makdoh suggested to adopt the in situ soil and water conservation measures to sustain the production and productivity of the crops. Further, the team demonstrated the sowing of toria (TS-38) in proper spacing. Later, the team visited the field and observed the improper plantation of orange and fruit fly infestation, pineapple in inadequate spacing for proper growth and development, banana without maintaining spacing and bamboo in haphazard manner inside the fields of Shri Jumbom Dirchi and Smt Toi Dirchi of Regi village. And the team apprised them to follow the improved production technologies  of different crops keeping in view the soil and water conservation  measures for sustainable production and productivity of crops.
