Training on upland rice cultivation

 

Training on scientific rice cultivation was organized by State agriculture department in collaboration with ICAR, KVK Anjaw under National Food Security Mission (NFSM) at Walong, Anjaw dist. on 14 May, 2015.Khoisnam Naveen and Senpon Ngomle attended the programme as resource person from ICAR, KVK Anjaw. All together 105 farmers including farm women and rural youth attended the training programme.

C.P. Sharma District Agriculture Officer, chaired the training, stressed on opportunity and potential of Anjaw district in production of agri. and allied crops considering the strategic topography of district. He called upon the farmers to tape the potential of new technology for adaption at field level and asked the farmers participant to interact with resource persons from ICAR, KVK Anjaw and clear the doubt instantly.

Khoisnam Naveen, Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) Agronomy, delivered a lecture on different aspects of rice cultivation and problems associated with it. He highlighted the importance on adoption of improved package and practices along with varietal replacement of traditional with improved HYV seeds for higher production.

Senpon Ngomle, Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) Plant protection, spoke on different problems of pests and diseases in rice cultivation and their ways to control. He highlighted pest and disease as one of the major factors for yield reduction and ask the famers for adoption of bio-control measures and proper management practices.

T.T. Hai, HDO, Hawai, emphasized on potential cultivation of different horticultural crops. He further highlighted the schemes available under agriculture department and urged the participant farmers to avail the benefit under the schemes.
