KVK  West Siang conducted Training Programme

 

Training programme on different topics was conducted by the KVK of West Siang on 17th Nov’2016 & 21st Nov’2016 in and around the Basar Circle. Awareness and consumption of pulses in regular diet and importance of growing pulse crops were carried out in Disi Village and presented in details through power point.  Focus on effective utilization of rice fallow and intercropping of pulse in orchards and other crops for pulse production and incorporation of high yielding varieties and short duration pulse crops like black gram, green gram and cow pea to make the jhum farming profitable and improve soil healthwere the main theme of the programme delivered by Dr. Rita Nongthombam (Plant breeding Specialist). She also lectured on techniques of seed production of quality seeds of different pulses in farmer’s field through seed village concept involving progressive farmers to make the seed available at the right time at Reggi Village on 21st Nov’2016. Dr. K. Suraj (Plant Protection Specialist), highlighted the effectiveness of IPM module to control insect pest and diseases to avoid losses at the entire field and in post-harvest storage. Wangnem R. (PA) demonstrated the procedure of soil sampling. The programme was concluded with farmers’ scientists’ interaction and vote of thanks by Dr. Rita Nongthombam.
