Training programme cum Gomati rice seed distribution for seed production to farmers at ICAR Mizoram centre, Kolasib under ICAR Seed Project.
A training programme cum Gomati rice seed distribution for seed production was conducted on 28th June, 2019 at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Mizoram Centre, Kolasib-Mizoram under ICAR seed Project (ISP) titled “Improved and quality rice seed production”. The programme started with the welcome address by Mr. Jeetendra Kumar Soni, Scientist (Agronomy). Dr. Lalhruaipuii, Scientist (Veterinary Microbiology) in her address to the participants emphasized the importance of this training on rice seed production. The main objective of the programme was to improve the farmers' knowledge on scientific rice seed production and to encourage the production of medium duration high yielding Gomati rice so that field can be vacated early for the timely sowing of rabi crop. A total of 25 farmers were benefited from the training through valuable lectures, exposure field visit and distribution of Gomati seeds to the participants. In her conclusion remark, Dr. Lalhruaipuii appreciated the farmers for their interest in seed production which will help in increasing their income. The programme was coordinated by Scientific staff of ICAR, Mizoram Centre.
