Technology Week Celebrated at KVK, South Tripura
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, South Tripura celebrated “Technology Week” during 23rd to 30th December 2016 at its Campus at Birchandramanu. The theme of Technology Week 2016 was “Pulses for Nutritional security”. A bunch of programmes like technology showcasing, exhibition on farmers product, special guest lecture on formation of farmers’ club-Kisan Credit Card-Joint Liability Group, marketing channels by the banking officials, training cum demonstration programme on substrate specific scientific mushroom cultivation and Integrated pest management in organic vegetable cultivation, piggery management, composite fish culture, productivity enhanchment of field crops (pulses) by the KVK specialist, field visit along with farmers in the demonstrated variety of lentil and toria field, farmers’ scientist interaction, distribution of extension literature etc were carried out during different days of the week. On the day of inaugural programme, Dr. K.K. Barman, Principal Scientist (Soil Science), ICAR, Tripura centre, Dr. N. Dasgupta, Deputy Director, ARDD, South Tripura, Shri K.H. Tripura, Deputy Director, Fishery, South Tripura, Shri Diganta Das, DDM, NABARD, Shri S. Mog, Superintendent of Fishery, TTAADC were the dignatories present. More than 100 farmers from Gomati and South Tripura district were present along with their product like vegetables, fruits, etc. for the exhibition purpose. On that day, there was the formal inauguration of newly constructed rabit unit of KVK, South Tripura.
In the day of inaugural programme, Dr.K.K. Barman emphasized on sustainable agriculture for food security. Sri Diganta Das, DDM, NABARD requested all the farmers to avail benefits of bank loan through various schemes. All the dignatories stressed on the use of low external inputs for sustainable agriculture. They urged the farming community of the district to utilize the facilities available at the KVK to overcome the problem in the present day agriculture in order to improve the productivity of crops. Mrs. Mandira Chakraborti, in charge Programme Coordinator of KVK, South Tripura highlights the importance of celebrating Technology Week at KVK, besides welcoming dignatories, farmers, media persons and all. All the Subject Matter Specialists of KVK actively engaged in conducting all the technical sessions and other arrangements during the Technology Week. The programme concluded with a positive note that, an improved technology only can help the farmers to increase their income.
