Dr. Tilling Tayo, SMS-Animal Science, KVK Anjaw, briefly presented on all the aspect of poultry management right from housing, brooding, feeding and disease management from day old chicks to production stage, through power point presentation and distribution of printing materials. He recall the farmer that often Veterinary Doctors are blamed and held responsible for the disease outbreak in poultry especially Ranikhet, Infectious Bursal disease (IBD), pullorum and fowl pox. Overlooking their irresponsibility as an owner of poultry, that could have been prevented, if recommended vaccination schedule of poultry had been followed. Veterinarian alone cannot rule out the disease unless and until farmers cooperates to prevent the disease. He exhorted that unlike other livestock once disease outbreak occurs in poultry it is very difficult to cure and recover from disease because of their anatomical and physiological makeup of body. Citing an example prevention is better and chipper than cure, he instruct the farmers that the best way to prevent from common disease outbreak in poultry is to follow strict vaccination schedule and deworming. Mr. Prasanta Mahanta farm manager KVK, Anjaw, also spoke on the occasion and asked the farmers to grasp the benefit extended by KVK, Anjaw to mitigate the problems faced during poultry production at any stage. Altogether 35 tribal farmers had attended the training and applauded for organizing such a meaningful and practical applicability training to needy tribal farmers of unreached and unattended technical knowhow area.
