Training Programe Organized On Organic Cultivation Of Ginger And Turmeric Under TSP at KVK Lengpui on 14th February, 2017

 

ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region Mizoram Centre organized training programme on “Organic Cultivation of Ginger and Turmeric” under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) with joint collaboration with Krishi Vighan Kendra (KVK), Lengpuii at Programme hall of KVK, Lengpuii on 14th February, 2017. Shri. C. Lalnithanga (Deputy Director, Research & Extension Department of Agriculture, Govt. of Mizoram), Dr. Samuel Laliansanga (Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Lengpuii), Dr. Saurav Saha (Scientist, Agricultural Physics), Dr. Henry Saplalrinlinia (KVK Scientist, Soil Science, KVK Lengpuii), Md. Mintul Ali (KVK Scientist, Fishery, KVK Lengpuii), Lalrinsangi (KVK Scientist, Agroforestry, KVK Lengpuii), Dr. C. Rinawma (KVK Scientist, Animal Science, KVK Lengpuii), Dr. Rohit Sukla (KVK Scientist, Animal Science, KVK Lengpuii), Mr. Vanlalhruala (KVK Scientist, Plant Protection, KVK Lengpuii), Mr. Samik Chowdhury (Technical Officer, GKMS) and Mr. P. Lalhmachhuana (Junior Research Fellow, NMSHE) attended the programme. All together 80 ginger and turmeric grower attended this training programme. Dr. Samuel Lalliansanga delivered a warm welcome to all the participants and highlighted the importance of organic farming in context to ginger and turmeric in Mizoram.  Shri. C. Lalnithanga gave a brief introduction on State Govt initiatives for promoting organic agriculture in Mizoram. Dr. Saurav Saha delivered a lecture on the Organic product certification process and regulation in India. After lunch break, Mr. Samik Chowdhury delivered a lecture on cultivation practices of ginger and turmeric crop, followed by an interaction meeting between scientists and farmers. 50kg ginger seed (Thinglaidum) and 25 kg turmeric (RCT 1) has been distributed to each participants. Finally, Dr. C. Rinawma gave formal vote of thanks.
