Training cum demonstration on scientific poultry management of Vanaraja birds for livelihood improvements of tribal farmers of Medong segment, Hawai.
A two days Training cum demonstration on scientific poultry management of Vanaraja chicken were held at Medong near Hawai by ICAR, KVK Anjaw, underTribal Sub-plan project (TSP) on 29th February & 1st March 2016. Dr. Manish Kanwat Programme Coordinator, KVK Anjaw, address well come note, stressing on the mandates of KVK for which this Kendra is established. He exhorted that one KVK is establish for every district of entire India to cater the needs of farming community, especially to percolate the scientific technology from lab to land (field level) of Agri and allied sector.
Dr. Tilling Tayo, SMS-Animal Science, KVK Anjaw, through power point presentation delivered a concise lecture on all the aspect of poultry management right from housing, brooding, feeding and disease management from day old chicks to production stage on mixture of three language viz. Hindi, English & local dialogue, which feel suitable and comfortable while delivering and may be best understand by participant tribal farmers. On next day demonstration on poultry feeding equipment’s, brooding management and route and dose of vaccination were demonstrated, to horn their knowledge on technique know how? So, that on the receipt of vanaraja chicks from KVK Anjaw, they will be able to vaccinate against most common disease of poultry viz. Infectious Bursal disease (IBD)& Ranikhet disease in their own, instead of seeking technical staffs or guidance from veterinary departments.
Mr. Prasanta Mahanta farm manager KVK, Anjaw, also spoke on the occasion and encourage the farmers to come forward to avail the technical knowhow on poultry production. Altogether 37 tribal farmers had attended the training. While deliveringvote of thanksGram chairperson of Medong segment appreciated KVK Anjaw and looking forward for such related training in other Agri and allied sector in days to come.
