Survey  for  TDC-NICRA  And  Discussion  on  Problems  and  Prospects  of  New Daring Conducted by ICAR And KVK West Siang

 

Basar, 22nd Aug., 2014: A team comprised of Shri A. Kirankumar Singh, i/c Programme Coordinator, KVK West Siang, Dr Rajesh A. Alone, Scientist (Agroforestry), Shri Jitendra Kumar, Scientist (Soil Physics), Shri Tinkonjit Taye, Senior Research Fellow (NICRA) and Shri Bomo Basar, Technician (T-1) conducted a survey at New Daring village in West Siang district for expansion of village under TDC-NICRA with discussion on problems and prospects of the village. The discussion was participated by 25 farmers including the members of two SHGs i.e. New Daring SHG and ii) Rigi Neli SHG, New Daring. The programme was organised by Shri Marbom Chiram and Smti Keter Chiram, ASM, New Daring. During the programme, the team had a thorough discussion on different aspects of farming system, selection of crop varieties, management of soil fertility,  insect  pests  management  and  other  livelihood  improvement  activities  in  the  village.  The  team stressed on the impacts on crops and livestocks due to present climate change scenario and their mitigation strategies. A. Kirankumar Singh interacted in detail regarding the farming system which can be adopted in the village, different suitable crop varieties, improved technologies for higher production and introduction of new medium duration rice varieties for successful cultivation of rabi crops. Shri Jitendra Kumar stressed on management of soil fertility for sustainable production and Dr Rajesh A. Alone discussed in detail about the importance of agroforestry and MPTs in farming system mode. Lastly, Shri A. Kirankumar Singh expressed the participants for possible technical guidance and logistic support for higher income generation through farming activities with the adoption of improved varieties and technologies from ICAR and KVK West Siang, Basar.
