Team of Scientists Done the Soil Samples Collection at Anjaw
Under the Soil Health Card Scheme launched by the Government of India in February 2015, a team of KVK Anjaw leaded by Senior Scientist cum Head Dr. Manish Kanwat and all KVK Scientists visited Suphliang, Chameliang, Metengliang and remotely situated with high altitude Barfu villages (1693m above MSL) of Anjaw district. During the visit, the team monitored the field of respective farmers and identified certain problems pertaining to their concern specialization. Further, awareness information about “Soil Health Card” were also imparted to the farmers which will provides crop wise recommendations of nutrients and fertilizers required for the individual farmers to enhance crop productivity. At the end, soil samples were collected by making a grid of 10 ha area in selected villages with its corresponding geographical coordinates. The collection of soil sample was done with the aim to aware the farmers about the soil fertility status and promote soil test based nutrient management through analysing the strength and weakness of the soil. The Soil Health Card will be distributed to farmers on 5th December, 2015 declared as “International Soil Health Day”.
