District level training programme on system of rice Intensification (SRI)- An ideal system for higher production and productivity in Arunachal Pradesh at Basar
Basar, the 1st July, 2015:
A district level training programme on “System of Rice Intensification (SRI)-An Ideal System for Higher Production and Productivity in Arunachal Pradesh” was conducted by Shri A. Kirankumar Singh, i/c Programme Coordinator, KVK West Siang under SRI-A Pilot Project under RKVY on 30th June to 1st July,2015. At the outset, Dr R. Bhagawati, Joint Director graced the inaugural function as the Chief Guest, Shri R. S. Mishra, PO (MCP) as the Guest of Honour. Shri A. Kirankumar Singh welcomed all the participants specially from the line state department viz. Shri R. S. Mishra, Project Officer, Multiple Cropping Project (MCP), Basar, Shri Zumsen Bam, ADO (MCP), Shri Domo Ete, ADO, CD Block, Basar through whom the technology is to be transferred successfully. In his deliberation, Dr R. Bhagawati, Jt. Director, ICAR, A. P. Centre, Basar highlighted the importance of SRI and objectives of taking up this project under RKVY for the improvement of production and productivity of rice in Arunachal Pradesh and requested the farmers to be well acquainted through practical demonstration to be conducted by the course coordinator. Shri R. S. Mishra, PO (MCP) highlighted the importance of the SRI technology for increasing production and productivity of rice in Arunachal Pradesh. At the outset, Mr. A. Kirankumar Singh, highlighted about the areas covered under SRI during the last 3-4 years and shown the impact of the system in different parts of Arunachal Pradesh through his powerpoint presentation. The training was attended by 26 nos of participants including 4 nos. of line department extension personnels.
During the training programme, the progressive farmer Shri Kenmar Basar who adopted the system earlier has been given the opportunity to share his views with the fresh participants during the interaction session. The participants were encouraged and willing to adopt the system in their respective fields. On the second day, the participants were trained about the different steps to be followed under the system in the field and demonstrated the methods.
