Seed Production Programme of Toria by KVK West Siang and ICAR Basar in Full Swing
Basar, the 9th October, 2014: A team comprised of Shri A. Kirankumar Singh, i/c Programme Coordinator, KVK West Siang, Shri Badapmain Makdoh, Scientist (Agronomy) and Shri Bomo Basar, Sr. Technician of ICAR Basar visited fields of Smt Karjum Kamdak of Chirne Village, Shri Marker Basar of Gori-II, Smt. Margam Basar of Soi village today. The team monitored and evaluated the field condition distributed the seeds of Toria (TS-38) for seed production programme under KVK West Siang and ICAR. The team encouraged the farmers to involve in seed production programme from which the maximum benefit can be obtained as the produce will be either bought back by the KVK and ICAR or can be extracted oil with the facilities available in ICAR for consumption purpose. The team members suggested them to grow for seed purpose following the norms and criteria framed by the committee of a group of Scientists. And the income will be more by selling as seed compared to selling in the form of oil as the price of the seed is high.
