Training Programme on scientific Piggery Production with theme “Nutritional security and Livelihood of Tribal Farmers through Improved Piggery” under Tribal Sub Plan was held at Metengliang Village.

 

A five day’s training programme on scientific piggery production was held at Metengliang village from 31st May- 4th June, 2016. All together 22 farmers, farm women and rural youths participated in the training programme. In the first day of the training programme, S. Peter Singh, Programme Coordinator (I/c) KVK, Anjaw delivered the welcome note. Technical session was chaired by Dr. Tilling Tayo, SMS, Animal Sciences. He delivered a lecture through PowerPoint presentation, on different aspect of housing, rearing method, feeding system, diseases management, breeding and biosecurity management of piggery production for three consecutive days two lecture in each day.

On the fourth day of training, the evening session was kept for open discussion with participant regarding their local method of piggery prodcution system with reference to ongoing improve method of piggery production training programme.  It was revealed from intraction with participants that, disease management is most important to incorporate in their traditional system of piggery production. While some of participant like the improve method of feeding system, which is more or less lacking in traditional system of piggery production.

On the last day of the training programme, an Animal Health Camp was organized to motivate the pig rearing farmers to take care of the Animal Health for higher and better pork production system as many as 43 Animal were dewormed and treated for various disease and deficiency based on sign and symptom of animal. Five days training and Animal Health camp conclude with vote of thank by Head Master, Middle School Metengliang.
