Training programme on “An approach towards livelihood improvement of women through processing of horticultural crops”

 

A three days training programme on “An approach towards livelihood improvement of women through processing of horticultural crops” was successfully organized by Division of Horticulture, ICAR Research complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya during 4th to 6th May, 2017. A total of 22 army wives from 24 Mountain Brigade, Umroi Military Station participated in the training programme. The objective of this training was aimed to address the need of vocational skill by imparting skill developing classes. This creation of awareness was targeted for livelihood improvement and encouraging towards an approach to entrepreneurship. During the programme, lectures and practical sessions were delivered and conducted on utilization of horticultural crops through processing and value addition into products viz. beverages, leather, jams, pickles, etc. The trainees also visited meat processing unit and witnessed a practical demonstration. All the trainees were first time attendees to such training and were very proactive and enthusiastic.
