Organized Farmers Awareness Programme on Weather Management in Farm Operations under Gramin Krishi Mausam Seava (GKMS) in Collaboration with KVK, Lengpui, 27th February, 2018 at West Serzawl, Mamit, Mizoram.
ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Mizoram centre (Agro-meteorological Field Unit; AMFU, Kolasib) organized training programme in collaboration with KVK, Lengpui entitled “Weather management in farm operations” under Gramin Krishi Mausam Seava (GKMS) – IMD at West Serzawl (Mamit, Mizoram), in order to sensitize the active dissemination of real time farm level agro advisories for minimizing crop loss at farmers’ field in Mizoram. Dr. Saurav Saha (Scientist, Agricultural Physics), Dr. Henry Saplalrinlinia (KVK Scientist, Soil Science, KVK Lengpuii), Lalrinsangi (KVK Scientist, Agroforestry, KVK Lengpuii), Dr. Rohit Sukla (KVK Scientist, Horticulture, KVK Lengpuii), Mr. Samik Chowdhury (Technical Officer, GKMS) and Mr. P. Lalhmachhuana (Junior Research Fellow, NMSHE) attended the programme. Altogether 60 farmers attained this training programme. Dr. Henry Saplalrinlinia delivered a warm welcome to all the participants and highlighted the importance of Gramin Krishi Mausam Seva for the tribal farming scenario of Mizoram. Dr. Saurav Saha highlighted the importance of weather forecasting for high value vegetable crops in Mizoram and emphasized the need for intensive scientist- farmer’s interaction for better implementation of farm level agro advisory services and crop health monitoring. Mr. Samik Chowdhury (Technical Officer, GKMS) accented the role of weather based agro advisory services to increase farming resiliency of the farmers. He collected the mobile numbers of the entire farmer trainee to incorporate the same in mkisan portal repository.
