MoU Signed for Conversion of RAU into RCAU

A MoU was signed between Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) and Agriculture Department, Bihar for conversion of Rajendra Agriculture University, Pusa into Rajendra Central Agriculture University, Pusa here today. The event was graced by Shri Radha Mohan Singh, Union Agriculture Minister; Shri Jeetan Ram Manjhi, Chief Minister, Bihar; and Shri Narendra Singh, Agriculture Minister, Bihar.
The MoU was signed by Dr. S. Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE and DG, ICAR and Shri Vijay Prakash, Agriculture Production Commissioner, Bihar on behalf of respective organizations. Shri S.K. Negi, State Development Commissioner; Shri R.K. Mittal, Vice-chancellor, RAU; and other senior central and state government officials were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Agriculture Minister hoped that this step will boost agricultural economy of the Bihar and prosperity for small and marginal farmers. A sum of Rs. 400 crore has been allocated during 12th Five Year Plan for this Central Agriculture University, he added.
Chief Minister, Bihar elaborated various agricultural programmes being implemented in the state and expected that farmers will get new technologies and other benefits from RCAU, Pusa.
Agriculture Minister, Bihar called it a day of historical importance and informed that a road map has been prepared for development of agriculture in Bihar for the period 2017-22.
