KVK Ri-Bhoi, organized field day on “Production of Rajmah” under TSP.
The KVK Ri-Bhoi, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya organized a field day on “Production of Rajmah” var. Tripura Sel-1 under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) at Umden Mission village on 16th November, 2016. The Programme was attended by 15 farmers from Umden Mission and Umrynjah villages of Umsning block. The objective of the programme was to showcase the technology to meet their nutritional requirement as well as for improvement of Soil Health. The Programme Coordinator and SMS Horticulture of KVK had explained the detail benefit of pulse cultivation to the farmers present in the programme.
Mr. Khlurpharnai Marwein was taken the lead for organising the field day at his field with the representative of demonstrated cluster of farmers from Umden mission and Umryjah village. A total of 5 ha area was covered under the demonstration. The farmers opined that though they could receive a good harvest, yet they found it difficult to sale in the market. They showed their preference for hybrid French bean rather than Rajmah. The programme was ended with a positive note that besides French bean they will cultivate Rajmah supported by market led frontline extension during the forthcoming season.
