Training cum demonstration on “Production of vermicompost from organic wastes".

 

A three day residential training cum demonstration programme entitled “Production of vermicompost from organic wastes” was organized under TSP Programme at ICAR Umiam by Soil Science Section of NRM Division during 6th to 8th February, 2018. The main objective of the training programme was to make aware and train the tribal farmers for efficient utilization of biodegradable organic wastes in agriculture through production of vermicompost. Twenty five (25) numbers of farmers from different villages of Ri-Bhoi and East Khasi Hills districts of Meghalaya participated in the training programme. Apart from delivering lectures by experts from ICAR Umiam, production of vermicompost from on-farm organic wastes was demonstrated to the farmers.

Certificates were distributed to the participants on the last day of the programme by Dr. K.K. Baruah, HOD, Animal Production Division and Director (I/C), ICAR Umiam.
