One day Workshop on “Agri-business and entrepreneur development in Mizoram” at ICAR Research Complex for N.E.H. Region, Mizoram Centre, Kolasib
A one-day programme on “Workshop on agri-business and entrepreneur development in Mizoram” was organized on 7th January, 2019 at ICAR Research Complex for N.E.H. Region, Mizoram Centre, Kolasib. The workshop aimed at promoting successful agribusiness ventures in order to benefits the farmers through new market, products and services.
Dr. I. Shakuntala, Joint Director, ICAR Research Complex for N.E.H. Region, Mizoram Centre in her welcome address emphasized the need of such initiative for improving the well-being of the poor with new and improved agricultural products and services through technology commercialization.
Dr. G. Kadirvel, Project investigator of ABI Centre, Umiam briefed on the main purpose and objectives of this workshop. He mentioned that the key objectives of the Agri-business Incubation (ABI) Centre to providing technology, skill up-gradation and incubation leading to promotion of viable enterprises and generation of employment opportunities to entrepreneurs.
Dr. Ruth Assumi, Scientist, Horticulture, ABI Member, Umiam delivered lecture on food processing as an option for entrepreneurship development from locally available horticultural crops viz jackfruit, guava, dragon fruit, ginger, turmeric, king chilli and zochilli etc.
Pu Lalremsiama, DHO, Kolasib, Pu Joseph, AEO, Kolasib and Dr. Zothanmawii, Chief Veterinary Officer, Kolasib also attended the workshop as representatives from line department. The workshop was organized by ICAR Research Complex for N.E.H. Region, Mizoram Centre, Kolasib in collaboration with ABI, Centre, ICAR, Umiam, Meghalaya.
Finally, Shri. Y. Bijen Kumar, the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Mizoram Centre proposed formal vote of thanks. About 60 participants including new entrepreneurs from Mission Organic Mizoram, farmers club, mushroom growers, and scientist and student attended the workshop. The Workshop was coordinated by Dr. Vishambhar Dayal, Scientist, Horticulture, ABI Member, Mizoram and Shri Y Bijen Kumar.
