Field Day on Oyster Mushroom Cultivation

 

ICAR- KVK West Siang organized a field day on “Oyster mushroom cultivation” on 28th March, 2018. The main aim of the programme was to showcase the success of oyster mushroom cultivation in Mrs. Nyaken Basar w/o. Mr. Pekken Basar of Chirne village, Basar Circle. Around 22 farmers attended the programme. In the programme Dr. H. Kalita, Joint Director, ICAR RC for NEH Region Arunachal Pradesh Centre, Toli Bam, Assistant Director of Agriculture, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh, Dr. Moloy Sarmah Baruah, In-Charge, KVK West Siang, Dr. Kangabam Suraj Singh, SMS-Plant Protection and Technical staff from MCP, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh, interacted with the farmers about the performance, benefits andincome generation. The technology was demonstrated by Dr. Kangabam Suraj Singh SMS-Plant Protection under FLD to create awareness about oyster mushroom cultivation among the farming community to increase income, and self employment in rural youth. In this programme Dr. H. Kalita, Joint Director highlighted need of oyster mushroom farming as agri-business enterprise and to become successful entrepreneur for large scale mushroom production for socio-economic development. Mr. Toli Bam, Assistant Director of Agriculture, emphasized the potential scope of mushroom production due to rich of materials used for cultivation of mushroom and favourable climatic conditions. Dr. Moloy Sarmah Baruah, In-charge, KVK West Siang congratulated the farmers for successfully cultivate the mushroom and asked the Self Help Groups to propagate the technology in commercial mode. Later the farmers’ present in that programme also asked more technical support from ICAR-KVK West Siang in this regard.
