Exploration Survey conducted at Nilang village by KVK Anjaw
An exploration survey was conducted at Nilang village under Goiliang circle by the KVK Scientists comprising of Social Sciences, Agronomy and Horticulture KVK w.e.f. 27th - 29th November, 2015. The survey was confined mainly on identification and collection of local germplasm and their parts used for curing the different health problems and diseases.
Sotutlum Tasit, the former Gram Panchayat Member, Mr. Somatey Nilang, Mr. Bahatlum Tamai, Mr. Hoklum Tega and Mr. Agengso Tamai, was helped as key informant during the survey. Mr. Khoisnam Naveen, suggested the farmers for promotion of local varieties of pulses, oilseeds and tuber crops as the productivity of the district is very low as per the population requirement. On the other side, Ms. Rebecca, Horticulturist, highlighted the importance of local medicinal plants and their habitats which were used for curing of certain kind of health and diseases problem. She also imparted knowledge regarding the importance of PPV& FR Act (Protection of Plant Varieties &Farmers Right), 2001 under which different plant varieties can be patented to protect and conserve its identity related to its location specific. In this context, Sh. S. Peter Singh (Social Sciences) was also suggested various strategies regarding the environmental related issues and urge to their active involvement to sustain their natural resources for the welfare of the community of Anjaw, Arunachal Pradesh.
