KVK, West Garo Hills celebrated “National Productivity week”

 

ICAR, KVK, Tura, West Garo Hills, Meghalaya celebrated “National Productivity Week” in the KVK campus w.e.f 12th -18th Feb 2018. The celebration was started with the inaugural function conducted in the training hall, KVK in which officials from District Commerce and Industries Centre (DCIC), West Garo Hills were present as guest lecturers. A welcome note was delivered by Mr. A.S. Singh, SS & Head (I/C) explaining the objectives and theme of national productivity week celebration. He explained about the Hon’ble prime minister’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Digital India’ programmes. He asked the farmers to adopt new technologies in the field of agriculture to enhance their productivity. The inaugural programme was ended with the vote of thanks by Dr. Sagarika Borah, Technical Officer, KVK.

As a part of the celebration, KVK, West Garo Hills organized training programmes for the farmers, farm women and rural youths. On 16.02.18, Ms. Cleopatra B. Marak, Assistant Industries Officer, DCIC, Tura delivered lecture on the topic “Value addition and processing of agri-products” and “establishment of processing units” to generate employment for the rural people. Ms. Eva Mary G Momin, Industrial promotion officer, DCIC, Tura informed the participants about different schemes suitable for farmers offered by DCIC, Tura. Dr. Sagarika Borah from KVK, Tura delivered lecture on “Opportunities and challenges in the Indian Dairy Industry”. On 17.02.18, training programme was conducted for rural youths. Lectures were delivered on “Organic Farming” and “Off season vegetable production” by Mr. N. Arun Kr Singh, SMS and Mr. A.S. Singh, SS & Head (I/C), KVK respectively. Dr. Cartina Sangma, Vety. Officer, Gambegre block taught the participants on “Opportunities and challenges in the Indian Poultry Industry”. Three farmers and farm women: Shri Gorango Hajong (Vermicompost production), Ms Mondakini Hajong (Poultry and goat farming) and Mrs Anita Marak (Tuber processing unit) were awarded for their contribution to their respective field.
