ICAR Signed MoU with NIAS, Bangaluru and NIF, Ahmedabad

ICAR signed two MoUs with the National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS), Bangaluru and National Innovation Foundation (NIF), Ahmedabad for collaborative R&D activities and support grassroots innovations. The event aimed at harnessing the synergies of these three important institutions and highlighted the immense possibilities for much needed emphasis on multi-disciplinary R&D activities and nurturing innovations from the informal sector. In case of NIAS, particular areas of mutual interest included bio-security, gender studies and agricultural policy while with NIF, rural innovations and traditional knowledge are regarded important issues for collaborations.
Dr S Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR inked these MoUs with Prof. Anil Gupta, Executive Vice-Chair, NIF and Dr Baldev Raj, Director, NIAS in the presence of Shri R. Rajagopal, Additional Secretary (DARE) & Secretary (ICAR).
Remarks from the dignitaries highlighted that the collaborations will help in development of science, skill and society. It will catalyse People-to-People contact and transfer of technology to better answer the issues of rural masses. Partnership and synergy between these organizations will help ICAR serving Indian Agriculture better.
Senior officials of ICAR, NIAS and NIF were also present on the occation.
