Collaboration of K.V.K Anjaw with NBPGR in exploration cum collection of local landraces from Anjaw District of Arunachal Pradesh
K.V.K Anjaw in collaboration with NBPGR conducted 6 days exploration cum collection of local landraces from Anjaw District of Arunachal Pradesh from 18th to 24thOctober, 2016. The team comprises of Dr. K. Pradheep (Senior Scientist, NBPGR New Delhi) Dr. G.D. Harish (Scientist, NBPGR, Umiam) and Khoisnam Naveen (SMS Agronomy, KVK Anjaw). During the exploration, the team collected altogether 170 samples comprising of different local landraces of rice, maize, beans, millets, ginger as well as other important crops from 8 circle of Anjaw district. The main aim of the exploration cum collection of local indigenous germplasm was to identify differentlocal landraces of crops available in the district as well as for preservation in the gene bank of NBPGR as day by day local landraces are being decreasing due to less cultivation and increase preference of improved variety.
