NAARM organized International Training Programme on ‘Agricultural Research Management’ for Scientist of Sri Lanka

Under the work plan 2013-14 between Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Sri Lanka Council for Agricultural Research Policy (SLCARP), an international programme on ‘Agricultural Research Management’ was conducted at ICAR- National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM), Hyderabad during 22-31 December 2014. Eleven senior level scientists and officers from SLCARP, Sri Lanka Universities and Sri Lanka Government departments participated in the programme.

 

Shri R. Raja Gopal, IAS, Secretary, ICAR interacted with the trainees on 27th December, during interactive session. He emphasized on research collaborations of mutual interest.. The trainees were given the opportunities to visit the crop fields at ICAR-Directorate of Oilseeds Research and ICRISAT, and discuss the research management issues with crop experts and gain research management knowledge.

Dr D. Rama Rao, Director, NAARM and Dr Mruthyunjaya, Former, National Director, NAIP shared the knowledge and Indian experiences for development of effective research-innovation continuum. Through organizational experiences, the participants were also trained in application of e-learning, knowledge management and geospatial management.

 

The trainees were exposed to national and international agricultural research systems. The lectures were included in various areas of agricultural research management so that they acquire professional and management skills in project management, writing research proposals, project monitoring & evaluation, research prioritization, administrative and financial management etc.

The training programme ended with the note that the Academy always welcome the capacity development among the SAARC scientific community through mutual learning and sharing of knowledge resources.
