Diagnostic visit held at Metengliang
As a parts of mandate of KVK. A regular diagnostic visit by Dr. Tilling Tayo, SMS-Animal Science, KVK Anjaw, was done at Metengliang on 2th April 2016. Most of the farmers rear 2-5 pigs in scavenging method, without much taking care of animal health. During diagnostic visit, many pigs were found to be lean and thin due to imbalance nutrition in diet as well as infestation with Ectoparasite (Ticks) and Endoparasite. Following recommendation and advice were given to farmers along with prompt treatment on the spot.
- To feed the pigs with two three ingredients after mixing with vitamin and mineral mixture. Instead of feeding only one feed ingredient at a time, as most of the locally feed available are deficit in few mineral in one feed ingredient and which may be available in other feed ingredient, due to process of leaching, mineral contents in feeds and fodder is deficit, which is a common phenomenon in hilly area. Mixing of two or more feed ingredients in the ration is the best way to mitigate the nutritional imbalance within the locally available feed resources.
Table. Ration formulation of locally feed available.
