Launching of Mera Goan Mera Gaurav in West Garo Hills.

 

Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav (My Village my pride) is a scheme launched by the Prime Minister to stress on the ‘Lab to land’ concept of the centre and intends to provide new technologies to the farmers which will help the farmers in various Agricultural developmental activities. In West Garo Hills, Ketkipara village under Selsella block was been selected for the “Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav” scheme. The launching programme was organised at Ketkipara L P School on 31st October, 2015 by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, ICAR, West Garo Hills. About 102 participants attended the programme.The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Tanmay Samajdar, the Programme coordinator of KVK, West Garo Hills. He briefed the farmers about the concept of “Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav” and promised the farmers that new technological interventions will be taken up in the adopted village for their benefit. The Chief Guest for the inaugural programme was Shri Crosspillar Marak, District Agricultural Officer, Tura. Shri C. Marak elaborated the problems faced by the farmers of that area and promised that his department is ready to help and provide necessary support to the farmers under this scheme.

 

Horticulture Development Officer (HDO), Dadenggre and Agriculture Inspectors and Demonstrators  of Selsella  Block  also  participated  in  the  programme.The  inaugural programme ended with vote of thanks by Shri Tarun Kr Das, SMS(Agril. Extn.).After the inaugural programme,a farmers-scientist interaction was also organised to understand the agricultural problems of the village. During the occasion, seeds of rabi vegetables,winter maize and lentil were also distributed to the farmers. Thereafter, a method demonstration on nursery raising of vegetables was also conducted at farmers field.
