Training Programmes in villages of Umtham and Umshorshor under ‘Mera Gaon, Mera Gaurav’ programme funded by TSP was organized by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya

 

A two days training programmes under ‘Mera Gaon, Mera Gaurav’ programme was organized by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya (MGMG Group-I) at Umtham village and Umshorshor village, Ri Bhoi District, Meghalaya on the 19th and 20th February 2016 respectively, under the leadership of Dr. S.V. Ngachan, Director of the institute.

During the two days’ long awareness programme, demonstrations on various animal husbandry practices, crop protection and horticultural practices were made by Dr. R. Laha, Principal Scientist, Dr. D.M. Firake, Scientist and Dr. M. Bilashini, Scientist of the Institute. Farmers of these villages showed keen interest about agricultural practices and a total of 64 farmers participated from both the villages. A liaison between farmers and Scientists of the institute have been developed through these programmes, which is one of the objective of the ‘Mera Gaon, Mera Gaurav’ programme

Training programme was followed by Animal Health Camps where veterinary medicines and supplements were distributed among the farmers. Besides, inputs in the form of chicks were also distributed among farmers to improve their livelihood. These programmes were supported under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) of the Institute. Dr. R. Laha, Principal Scientist offered vote of thanks to the participants of the training.
