Vocational training programme on “Livestock Based Income Generating Activities under Climate Change Situation”

A three days long vocational training programme on “Livestock Based Income Generating Activities under Climate Change Situation” was conducted from 30th May, 2016 to 1st June, 2016 by KVK West Siang andICAR AP Centre, Basar at Basar circle of West Siang District of Arunachal Pradesh. All together 42 farmers including rural youth and farmers from EshiChiku village were participated in the training programme. The programme was initiated with a daylong theory classes covering the topics backyard poultry farming with improved germplasm, why and how to do commercial pig farming, common diseases of livestock and poultry and its curative measures. On the second day i.e. on 31st May, 2016 the farmers were brought to the ICAR Research farm, Gori, where practical demonstration on pig, poultry and dairy housing, feeding, vaccination and other health care measures were demonstrated to the farmers. Farmers were also trained about the techniques of making vermicomposting which they can be made along with a dairy unit. On 3rd day i. e. on 1st June, 2016 a health camp cum vaccination camp was organized at EshiChiku village itself where the vaccination techniques of Ranikhet diseases were demonstrated to the trainees. During the camp inputs in terms of deworming tablets, mineral mixtures and vitamins for livestock and poultry were distributed to the livestock farmers.
The programme was planned by KVK West Siang and ICAR AP Centre, Basar and conducted by animal husbandry experts namely Dr. D. Jini, Scientist, Vety. Extension, ICAR AP Centre, Basar, Dr. M. S. Baruah, Assistant Chief Technical Officer, (Animal Science) of KVK West Siang, and Dr. Bali Yomgam, Technical Assistant (Animal Science) of ICAR AP Centre, Basar.
The programme was concluded with interaction and feedback session among the trainees andresource persons of ICAR and KVK.
