Kisan Sammelan cum Input Distribution Organized by KVK Anjaw
Kisan Sammelan was celebrated by KVK Anjaw on 16th March, 2016 at Community Hall, Hayuliang. The programme was started with welcome address by Manish Kanwat, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Anjaw. He also gave a brief summary about the progress and achievements of the KVK during the last eleven months. He emphatically emphasized the role of Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Science in improving the socio-economic status of the farmers of this remotest district.
Smt. M. Riba, Deputy Commissioner, Anjaw, graced the occasion as the Chairman. She praised the activities done by the KVK within the short period of time and also promised to extent all possible help for establishing the KVK in the district. She asked the present State Agril. and other line Department to work in synergy mode and help the KVK to be work as the as Knowledge Research Centre in this District. She also stressed on importance of formation of more number of SHGs among the farm women and introduction of pisciculture as an alternative source of employment creation.
Mr. B. Towsik, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Hayuliang, also graced as the Chief Guest of the function. He emphasizes on importance of Jalkund (Rain Water Harvesting Structure) especially in Barfu under Hayuliang circle where shortage of water is acute during Rabi season and also asked the farmers to co-operate the KVK staffs for successful intervention of Jalkund project under the Tribal Sub Plan.
Mr. A. Manyu, Zila Parsishad Member (Hayuliang), also requested the farmers to expand more area under Agriculture and Horticulture apart from Large Cardamom for self sufficiency of food grain in the district. Mr. A. Tindya, Anchal Samiti Chairperson (Metengliang) asked the farmers to co-operate each other and to make the district a successful and prosperous farming community. Mr. A. Ratan, Circle Officer (Chaglagam), Mr. T.T. Hai, Horticulture Development Officer and Mr. S. Bhattarcharjee, Agriculture Development Officer also witness the programme. On this occasion, 5000 nos Kiwi Planting material also distributed to the 50 number of beneficiaries of the District under Tribal Sub Plan.
