Training cum exposure visit by KVK West Siang

A two days training programme cum exposure visit was conducted on 4th and 5th November, 2015 by KVK West Siang, ICAR A.P-Centre, Basar at its training hall and demonstration units on the topic of “Scientific poultry farming in commercial mode”. All together 24 farmers including rural youth and farm women of Pagi and Disi villages of West Siang district were participated in the training programme. The programme was initiated with the welcome address by Dr. Moloy Sarmah Baruah, Subject Matter Specialist (Animal Science) and In-charge of KVK, West Siang followed by the speech of I/C Joint Director Dr. R. Alone and Dr. Doni Jini, Scientist, Agriculture Extension.
The technical section was started with the hands on training by Dr. Moloy Sarmah Baruah, Subject Matter Specialist (Animal Science) and In-charge of KVK, West Siang then followed by Dr. Doni Jini, Scientist, Agriculture Extension described the farmers about the techniques of poultry farming, health care, different breeds and recent techniques of poultry farming for sustainable income generation for rural farmers. After the theoretical seasons an exposure visit was conducted for the farmers to the poultry demonstration units having Vanaraja birds as well as to the dairy and rabbit units where the modern scientific poultry and livesock rearing techniques were demonstrated by Dr. Tolan Kr. Borah, Livestock Manager of ICAR A.P. Centre, Basar. On the demand of the farmers another training was conducted on the topic “use of yielding varieties to get high yield” by Smt. Rita Nongthombam Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Breeding) in the technical season. The programme was concluded with interaction and feedback session between the farmers and resource persons.
