KVK Namsai conducted Critical input distribution programme
20th February, 2021: Two days long run programme was successfully organised on 19.02.21 and 20.02.21 by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Namsai under ICAR RC for NEH Region, Arunachal Pradesh Centre, Basar in collaboration with ICAR-NDRI, ERS, Kalyani, West Bengal on “Improving the livelihood through dairy farming in North eastern region of India” and “Upliftment of socio-economic condition of tribal people through Integrated livestock farming in North eastern hill region/Eastern part of India” for rural youth and practicing farmers at KVK office premises. A total of 126 farmers including scientist from ICAR-NDRI (ERS), Kalyani, West Bengal and Joint Director, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Arunachal Pradesh Centre, Basar were present in the training.
The inauguration session was chaired by Dr. Homeswar Kalita, Joint Director, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Arunachal Pradesh Centre, Basar. Dr. T. K. Dutta Principal Scientist, Dr. Champak Bhakat, Principal Scientist, Dr. Anupam Chatterjee, Principal Scientist, Dr. Asif Mohammad, Scientist, ICAR-NDRI (ERS), Kalyani, West Bengal were also participated in the programme. The programme was started with welcomed address by Senior Scientist and Head Dr. Debasis Sasmal. He briefed about the programme by highlighting the different scheme launched by Govt. of India for upliftment of socio-economic condition of tribal people through integrated life stock farming in NE hill region of India. In his speech, Dr. Homeswar Kalita, Joint Director stressed about the importance of IFS for doubling of farmers income. Dr. T. K. Dutta Principal Scientist, ICAR-NDRI (ERS), Kalyan explained about improving the rural livelihood through pig, goat, dairy farming in north eastern region of India and also informed in the house that how these collaborative programmes improves living standards of farmers in different state of NE India. During the programme News letter of KVK, Namsai was also released. The inaugural session ended with vote of thanks by Dr. Binod Dutta Borah, SMS(Animal Science).
In technical session Dr. Champak Bhakat, Principal Scientist, ICAR-NDRI (ERS) thoroughly discussed of different aspects of livestock production and its market linkages.
Dr. Anupam Chatterjee, Principal Scientist, ICAR-NDRI (ERS), Kalyani explained about the importance of scientific management of livestock. He also explained about importance of vaccination, preventives and control measures of swine fever and other seasonal diseases.
Dr. Asif Mohammad, Scientist, ICAR-NDRI (ERS), Kalyani taught about importance of clean milk production.
Along with the training programme, 30 nos of piglets, 2000 nos of Poultry and 600 nos of ducklings were also distributed to 10, 26 and 22 nos of farmers respectively with feeds and veterinary medicines.
During the programme. Scientists were also visited to the farmers field and interact with the unit holders.
