Training conducted by KVK Anjaw on Agro-techniques of maize cultivation
One day training on Agro-techniques of maize cultivation was organised by KVK Anjaw at Tafraliang village on 9th July 2015. All together 54 farmers including farm women and rural youths attended the training programme.
Khoisnam Naveen, Subject Matter Specialist (SMS, Agronomy) was the coordinator of the training programme. He spoke on critical aspects of maize cultivation with special reference on benefits of improved high yielding varieties and different stages of water management in increasing yield. He also stressed on importance of soil testing for evaluating available soil nutrients. Further, he addresses multiple advantages of intercropping maize with pulses and vegetables before concluding the training.
Earlier Senpon Ngomle (SMS, Plant Protection), highlighted the role and mandate of Krishi Vigyan Kendra in agril. and allied activities. He asked the farmers to come forward and avail the technical knowledge of KVK for better production and improved livelihood of the farmers.
Rebecca Eko (SMS, Horticulture), also spoke on importance of proper planting materials for controlling the diseases of large cardamom.
Soibam Peter Singh (SMS, Social Sciences), shared the role of SHG in improving the socio-economic condition of the farm women with special focus on income generating activities like food processing items.
