KVK Namsai promotes Bee Keeping under Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan
Day long training cum demonstration programme on employment generation through commercial Bee farming at farmers’ level successfully organized at Zona I village on 23rd Oct 2018 by ICAR – KVK Namsai under Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan (KKA) phase II. The objective of this training programme has to provide the opportunity to empower the unemployed rural youth and farm women by providing the technical know-how to start the commercial bee keeping at household level. During this training programme Dr Santosh Kumar explained the cultural, medicinal and economical importance of bee keeping in Namsai District. Doubling farmers’ income by 2022, a vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India was highlighted to encourage farmers to come forward to adopt bee keeping as income generation enterprises. Bee has important role in crop pollination, therefore, integration of bee along with kitchen gardening, litchi and lemon cultivation were also explained. Role of organic crop and milk production in women empowerment were explained by Dr. Dr. BKD Bora SMS, Animal Science KVK Namsai. Total 65 farmers and women farmers including Goan Bura were participated in the training programme.
