Field Visit Conducted by KVK West Siang in Farmer’s Jhum Field at Pagi.
A team comprising of Dr. Kangabam Suraj Singh, SMS(Plant Protection), Mr Pashel Rolling Anal, Technical Officer (Agromet) and Mr Debasis Datta, SMS (Agril. Extension) conducted a diagnostic field visit in Smt. Marde Riba’s Jhum field at Pagi village on 2nd July, 2015. During the visit, the team observed mix cropping of maize, paddy and cucurbitaceous crops. Dr. Suraj identified many diseases and pests in paddy, maize, pumpkin and cucumber. Brown spot, blast, thrips and grass hopper in paddy field, rust, shoot borer and aphid in maize, leaf eating caterpillar in cucumber. He advised the package and practice for management of insect pests and diseases in paddy, maize and cucurbit crops in time to increase production and productivity. Debashis Datta stressed on benefit of water harvesting structure on Jhum farming system. Mr Rolling highlighted the importance and usefulness of Kisan mobile advisory services in the field of agriculture in order to practice.
