Jai Kisan Jai Vigyan Diwas was organised by Kishi Vigyan Kendra, ICAR, Tura in Dingok- Chenggalma village under North Garo Hills of Meghalaya on 23rd December, 2015 as a part of Jai Kisan Jai Vigyan week to be observed from 23rd to 29th Dec 2015 for motivation of the farmers to adopt modern scientific technologies. The village has been adopted by Mr. P.A. Sangma, hon’ble MP of Tura under Sansad Adarsh Garm Yojana. The programme started with welcome speech by Sri A. S. Singh, SMS, Horticulture, KVK, ICAR, West Garo Hills. He briefed the farmers about the concept of “Jai Kisan Jai Vigyan” and promised the farmers that new technological interventions will be taken up in the adopted village for their benefit. He also explained about various technologies and interventions available with the KVK and how it will help them to attain sustainable livelihood. A farmers- scientist interaction was also organised during the occasion and seeds of watermelon and Dolicos bean were distributed among the participants. A total no. of 46 farmers from three villages participated in the programme. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Mr. Gretush R Marak, SRF, NICRA, KVK, ICAR, West Garo Hills.
