Technology Week Cum Jai Kisan Jai Vigyan Week Celebration from 23rd-29th Dec 2016 organized by KVK Ribhoi in ICAR Umiam, Meghalaya.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ri-Bhoi organized a Technology Week cum Jai Kisan Jai Vigyan Week (23rd-29th Dec 2016) at KVK, Ri-Bhoi, Umiam. An inauguration programme was organized on the 23rd of December 2016 along with an exhibition of farmer’s produce to commemorate the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee (25 December) and Late Chaudhury Charan Singh (23 December). The programme was attended by 50 farmers from 4 different villages of Ri-Bhoi district.of Meghalaya. Dr. A.K. Tripathi, Director In-charge, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam and Nodal Officer of KVKs in his speech requested the farmers to take part actively in all the events like Farmer Scientist interaction, Exhibition, quiz competition, film show, diagnostic practical etc to be organized during the weeklong celebration. Dr. A.K. Singha, Principle Scientist & Director In-charge, ATARI, Zone III, Umiam, in his address expressed his happiness and congratulated PC, KVK Ri-Bhoi for organizing the programme successfully. He also congratulated the farmers for bringing their produce for the exhibition and encouraged them to adopt the different technologies offered by the KVK for uplifting their economic status. Earlier, Dr Mokidul Islam, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Ri-Bhoi welcomed and thanked the farmers and the dignitaries for attending the programme. He also spoke about the purpose and different activities that will be organized by the KVK during the weeklong celebration. During the programme an exhibition was also held where farmers showcased their produce and prize was given for the best produce exhibited. The exhibition was judged by the SMSs of KVK, Ri-Bhoi. The prize money (1st, 2nd, 3rd and consolation prize) were distributed to the winners by the dignitaries during the programme. Dr. Utpal Barua, SMS (Horticulture) in his vote of thanks speech thanked the farmers for participating in the programme and for bringing their produce for the exhibition. After the inauguration programme, video film about scientific vegetable cultivation, piggery farming, vermicomposting and use of agricultural implements was shown to the farmers. A scientist farmer interaction programme was also organized wherein farmer’s queries were addressed by the SMSs of KVK, Ri-Bhoi. A farm visit and diagnostic practicals was also done at KVK Instructional farm for identification of insect pest, diseases and technologies demonstrated for higher profitability.
