Training Programme on JALKUND Technology to Promote Year Around High Value Vegetable Cultivation in Mizoram Phaipheng Village on 14th March, 2017

 

ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region Mizoram Centre organized training programme on “Jalkund technology to promote year around high value vegetable cultivation in Mizoram” under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP), organized at Phaiapheng village, Kolasib district on 14th March, 2017. Altogether 100 farmers from Phaiapheng village participated in the training programme. Dr. Saurav Saha, Scientist (Agril. Physics), Pu. P. C Raltwna (Agriculture Secretary, Bilkhawthlir farmers Association), Pu. P.C, Lalchawnkima (Secretary, Phaipheng Farmers Association), Mr. Samik Chowdhury (Technical Officer, GKMS), attended the programme. Pu. P. C Raltwna greeted the gathering with a warm welcome note. Dr. Saurav saha emphasized the importance of Jalkund technology for production of high value vegetables and fruit crops in the hilly terrain of Mizoram. Pu P. C. Lalchawnkima highlighted the importance of storing rainwater for management of fruit orchards during winter months in Mizoram. Five Silpaulin was distributed in along with vegetable seeds (80 kg cowpea and 50 kg Okra seeds) among the participants. Finally, Mr. Samik Chowdhury gave formal vote of thanks at the end of the session. After lunch, technical steps of Jalkund preparation were demonstrated by Mr. P. Lalhmachhuana and Mr. Samik Chowdhury.
